INCANTATION Mainman Comments On DISGORGE Bassist's Passing
January 9, 2008Guitarist/vocalist John McEntee of the Pennsylvanian death metal bands INCANTATION and FUNERUS has released the following statement on the passing of DISGORGE bassist Ben Marlin:
"I would like to send out my condolences to DISGORGE and the Marlin family from both INCANTATION and FUNERUS. I know the DISGORGE guys very well from touring and hanging out many times together throughout the years and I just can't begin to imagine the pain they are going through. Ben was a great guy and a amazing bass player. I remember touring with them and just being blown away by his performance and skill. The world has lost a great musician, and more importantly, a cool, down-to-earth guy. It was just great that Ben had the opportunity to accomplish a lot with his life and touch so many people with his music. We all lost a great guy way too soon. Both INCANTATION and FUNERUS are very distraught over Ben's passing and are proud to have gotten the opportunity to tour by his side and get to know him."
Memorial services for Marlin will be held on January 17, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Moose Lodge in North Escondido, California. "Family and friends have set up a pot luck memorial to celebrate the life of our late brother, and have extended the invitation to those whom he has touched across the extreme music scene abroad," the surviving members of DISGORGE write in a statement. "We thank everyone for the worldwide support, showing Ben's family how much he was loved by our scene."
